57 Sqn was formed in June 1916, initially used for training, then fighter-reconnaissance and finally long range bombing. At the start of World War 2 it operated Blenheims before converting to Wellingtons and in 1942, the Lancaster. Post war, the squadron operated Lincolns, Washingtons, Canberras, Victors, Hercules and currently operates the Grob Prefect in Elementary Flying Training.
