On returning over Viborg aircraft was hit by flak and a fire commenced in the aircraft. Then another burst blew in the bombardiers window and all the glass in the cockpit. They were then attacked by two fighters wounding the rear gunner and mid upper gunner. The aircraft stalled, and the pilot regained control at 4000ft. The pilots safely back despite all instruments being u/s and belly landed at Wittering. Pilot received an immediate commission and the whole crew received an immediate DFM.
